Sex racket busted in Deoria; 24 women, children rescued from shelter home
Addressing the media here late on Sunday night superintendent of police Rohan P Kanay said government had cancelled affiliation of child shelter home, girl shelter home and reformation home run by Ma Vidhvasini Women training and Social Service society. Even then girls, children and women were staying their illegally.
SP said that a girl from Beitya, Bihar managed to escape from girl shelter home late on Sunday evening and told the police about happenings. Following which police rushed to the spot with adequate force and rescued 24 women and children from there.
"Initial investigations have revealed that girls of age group 15 to 18 living there were pushed into prostitution" Mr Kanay said adding that the building was sealed and its owner Girija Tripathi along with her husband Mohan Tripathi were arrested while manager of shelter home, Kancanlata was still on the run. SP said that as per information 42 women and children were living in that shelter home in which 18 children, women and girls were missing. Case was registered under relevant sections and probe was underway, he pointed out.
