TRAI chief RS Sharma gets extension till 2020
RS Sharma has been reappointed as the chief for Telecom Regulatory Authority of India. As per the reports, RS Sharma will hold the office till September 30, 2020. A few days back, Sharma was trolled for his Aadhaar challenge that went down the hill on Twitter. The Trai chief had shared his Aadhaar number on the microblogging site and challenged saying no harm or data will be leaked with the unique identification number.
Trolling and responding to RS Sharma’s challenge Twitterati shared TRAI chief’s personal details including bank account number, pan card number, phone numbers and residential address.
A government order said Mr Sharma will continue as the telecom regulator till September 2020 when he turns 65.
In his earlier tweet, RS Sharma had said, “My Aadhaar number is 7621 XXXX XXXX Now I give this challenge to you: Show me one concrete example where you can do any harm to me!”
After the TRAI chief misadventure, UIDAI had appealed to the people to not share their Aadhaar numbers on the internet and social media sites. In a statement, UIDAI had adviced people to not to share the Aadhaar number saying hackers can misuse the personal details like phone numbers, bank account number, PAN details and other personal data.
