IC-IMPACTS awards IDI project to KU, Canadian University

India-Canada Centre for Innovative Multidisciplinary Partnerships to Accelerate Community Transformation and Sustainability (IC-IMPACTS) have awarded a new Innovative Demonstration Initiatives (IDI) project in the deployment-ready stage of development to Dr. Manzoor A Shah of University of Kashmir and Professor Damase Khasa of the University Laval, Quebec, Canada.

The spokesman said that IC-IMPACTS IDI projects aim to improve the health, safety, and prosperity of communities in both nations through the introduction of new technologies in Canada and India. Goals of the IDI range from encouraging technology transfer and knowledge through Canada-India research collaborations, fostering bilateral trade development between nations, and demonstrating the effectiveness of innovative technologies in the Canadian and Indian markets.

Applicants from Canada and India submitted applications during the call for proposals and after a rigorous review process, the top four projects were selected, which includes the one proposed by Dr Shah with Professor Khasa to demonstrate testing and upscaling phytoremediation technology in real-world conditions on four sites—two in Canada and two in India—contaminated by heavy metals.

Kashmir University National Moot Court Competition-2018

Meanwhile, the Inaugural ceremony of the ‘Kashmir University National Moot Court Competition-2018’ was held at Gandhi Bhawan, the University of Kashmir on Monday.

Vice Chancellor, University of Kashmir, Professor Talat Ahmad was the chief guest on the occasion while as  Justice Hasnain  Masoodi, Chairman, Selection-cum-Oversight Committee, Juvenile Justice Act and former High Court Judge was guest of honor.

Professor Mohammad Hussain Head and Dean, School of Law welcomed the guests while Prof. Anand Paliwal, Dean, College of Law, Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Udaipur, Rajasthan presented the keynote address.

The event was sponsored by the Jammu and Kashmir Bank.
