Gautam Gambhir | Indian Cricket Team | BCCI | Wives
The Indian cricketing fraternity has been divided in two parts ever since reports emerged that India skipper Virat Kohli requested the BCCI to allow the players’ wives to stay with the team for the entire duration of the tour. The board has not taken a decision on the request it. However, reports suggest that Committee of Administrators (CoA) is going to have a serious discussion on it in the coming day.Gautam Gambhir had his say on Virat Kohli’s request (Credits: Twitter)
Speaking on the issue, Gautam Gambhir said that family presence on tour works for some players but it may not for another.
Gambhir told India Today.
Recently, Anushka Sharma, Kohli’s wife, had faced the heat after accompanying the team members and support staff with officials of the Indian High Commission in London. Anushka featured in a picture, standing next to Kohli. However, her presence did not go down well with the fans who were clueless as to why she was being allowed to travel with the team in the first place.Anushka Sharma with the team at the High Commission (Credits: BCCI)
Anushka was the only star wife who was still accompanying her partner on the tour.
Meanwhile, reports suggest that the BCCI will not take a decision on Kohli’s in a haste. India’s next overseas tour is the full-fledged series in Australia, starting in November. After that the team will fly out to New Zealand for a limited-overs series.
