Just Seh Di Word: Zimi Seh Brunch
The second iteration of Nicholas Mahfood and chef Shea Stewart's Zimi Seh Brunch occurred on Sunday, January 6 at the Hope Botanical Gardens. Hundreds of day partiers, a good number of whom were tertiary students, descended upon the Sunken Gardens to extend holiday revelry by an extra day.
While bouncing to the beats of four deejays — Nicco, Franco, Laing D and Chromatic — Zimi Seh Brunch attendees quaffed beverages that included Heineken beer, Red Bull, Tru-Juice, GH Mumm Champagne (hello, mimosas!) and Ironade. The titular brunch meanwhile did not disappoint. On offer were Jamaican favourites like ackee and salt fish; the pillar of the American south, fried chicken and waffles; omelettes done to order; and pasta and soup. There was, too, Pizza Hut pizza, fried chicken from KFC (you can never have too much fried chicken) and breakfast delights from Grace and Walkerswood.
By mid-afternoon the energy of Zimi Seh Brunch was palpable. Clearly, the event's organisers found the magic that arises from the perfect combination of music, food and drink. All afternoon long patrons with closed eyes swayed their hips and waved hands — hypnotised by the vibes.
