Charminar: In view of the recent experience of the Election Commission and GHMC with the ‘missing voters,’ the Congress and the BJP leaders have demanded that the Deputy Commissioner and other GHMC officials conduct awareness campaigns in all localities and ensure that no voter is missing from the electoral rolls. They demanded that all those who are 18 years and above be be included in the fresh list.
Senior Congress leader K Venkatesh and BJP leader T Uma Mahendra along with their party workers met Charminar Deputy GHMC Commissioner (Circle 9) P Saralamma and discussed the matter. They brought to her notice the way recent elections were conducted, when lakhs of voters from lists were allegedly missing. They alleged that a section of voters were denied the opportunity to vote and warned that the officials should hold responsibility for this and take correct measures. The meeting was attended by officials K Mallaiah and Pushpa and others.
