Mayank Agarwal brushes aside comparisons with Virender Sehwag
Indian opener, Mayank Agarwal had a dream debut in the Test series against Australia. He scored 195 runs in three innings at an average of 65. He scored 76, 42, 77 in the Test series Down Under. Agarwal impressed one and all with his temperament and application.
He batted in a very confident manner. India managed to post in excess of 400 runs in first innings of both the MCG and SCG Tests. And Agarwal was at the heart of it since he made half-centuries in both these innings to lay a solid foundation for the middle-order batsmen to prosper.
A lot of people feel that Agarwal bats like Sehwag. But Agarwal isn't a fan of comparisons.
“Honestly, I am not a fan of comparisons, but he is one of the greats of Indian cricket. I just like to go in the middle, give my best and see what comes out of it. Having said that, if I could do even half of what he (Sehwag) did, I will be happy,” Mayank told NDTV after his return to India.
He also shared his experience of making debut at the MCG.
“I was very excited that I have been called to represent India in Australia in a well-poised series. My thought was I want to be a part of the action than sit out. When I got the call from the selectors, I was very excited. It is a big moment for any cricketer, more so if you do that in MCG on Boxing Day, said Agarwal.
