Inspired by its elder sibling, XUV500, the compact SUV will be styled in tandem with Mahindra’s Cheetah inspired design. Talking of some key styling elements, it will sport LED projector headlamps in front and LED tail-lamps at the back. Sides will come equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels and it will get silver roof rails atop. Round the back, it will sport a large bumper, roof-mounted spoiler and silver skid plates. On the feature front, the Mahindra XUV300 will boast segment-first features such as dual-zone climate control, steering modes, heated wing mirrors and front parking sensors.
Under the hood, the compact SUV will be offered with both petrol and diesel engines. That said, the petrol version will get 1.2-litre unit good for maximum power of 108 bhp against 200 Nm torque. The diesel-powered XUV300 will derive power from the 1.5-litre oil burner. For those not in the know, this is the same engine that powers Marrazo MPV, albeit the engine has been detuned for XUV300. In terms of power, the 1.5-litre makes 115 bhp along with 300 Nm torque. Both engines will be paired to a six-speed manual gearbox, whereas an automatic unit will be added at a later stage. The Maruti Brezza rival is claimed to return impressive fuel economy in both fuel options with 17 km/l for petrol and 20 km/l for diesel respectively.
While Mahindra is gearing up to roll out a new contender in the sub-four meter segment, its premium offering, Alturas G4 is struggling with monthly sales.
