Ashton Turner may have just played two ODIs so far, but he has got international acclaim after his 84-run knock helped Australia to chase their biggest-ever ODI chase. The Australian newcomer smashed 84 runs off just 43 balls to hand Aussies a comfortable victory over India in the 4th ODI while chasing massive 359-run target.

Turner surprised everyone with the magic of his bat. He was part of 1st ODI in Hyderabad but could only score 21 runs off 23 balls. While every cricket fan is wondering who this Australian young lad is, here are some of the things to know about him.

  1. Ashton Turner is a batting all-rounder. He is a right-handed batsman and right-arm off break bowler.

  2. Turner debuted for Australia domestic team Western Australia in 2012–13 season.

  3. He plays for Perth Scorchers in Big Bash League and was the seventh-highest scorer in BBL’s last season with 378 runs.

  4. Although newbie to international cricket, Turner is a popular name in BBL league and one of the greatest batsmen in death overs.

  5. Turner toured India with the Australian under-19 team in September and October 2011 in a quadrangular tournament.

  6. He made his international debut in February 2017 in a T20 series against Sri Lanka.

  7. Since 2017, Turner has only played 5 T20Is so far with an average performance with 26 runs and 3 wickets.

  8. Turner made his international ODI debut in the ongoing series against India.

  9. Turner was recalled in the Australia team in the 4th ODI against India at Mohali after Marcus Stoinis suffered a broken thumb.

  10. Ashton Turner was bought by Rajasthan Royals during the IPL 2019 auction.
