Apple will roll out a new software update today to fix a Portrait mode bug on the iPhone 8 Plus.

iOS 12.3.2, which comes just two weeks after the release of iOS 12.3.1, is another minor update for most iPhone and iPad users. For those with an iPhone 8 Plus, however, it will bring depth back to Portrait photos.

It’s hard to get excited about an iOS 12 update now that we know just how big iOS 13 is going to be. But it’s going to be a few months before we all get our hands on that, and there are issues Apple must fix in the meantime.

One of those is a bug that causes the Camera app to capture Portrait mode photos without a depth effect on the iPhone 8 Plus. And it’s going to get fixed today.

iOS 12.3.2 on the way

iOS 12.3.2 will be available to download over-the-air at around 10 a.m. PT today.

You should get a notification when it’s available, but you can search for it manually by going into Settings, then General, then Software Update. Note that it may take some time to appear for all users.

iOS 12.3.2 will also include other bug fixes for other devices, Apple says, so it is recommended you install it — even if you don’t have an iPhone 8 Plus.

iOS 12.4 is coming soon

We will also see an iOS 12.4 update before iOS 13 arrives this fall. We’ve seen three betas for it so far, but neither have included any obvious changes or additions. It is thought the release paves the way for the upcoming Apple Card.
