Naveen Patnaik seeks railway connectivity in LWE affected districts of Odisha.

New Delhi: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik sought Monday the Union Government’s support to eradicate Left Wing Extremism (LWE) completely from the state by developing better infrastructure in the Naxal-hit areas.
While talking to media after attending a meeting called by Union Home Minister Amit Shah here, Naveen Patnaik said he has raised three points in the meeting.
Naveen Patnaik said he has urged the Union government to provide railway connectivity in LWE affected Malkangiri and Nabrangpur districts. He informed that the state government will provide land for the project free of cost and also bear half the expenses of setting up the tracks.
“I have raised three demands in the meeting. I demanded railway connectivity to Nabrangpur and Malkangiri districts. The state government will provide land free of cost for the project. I also demanded that banking facilities shall be provided in all the Naxal affected blocks and steps should be taken for better telecommunication services,” the Odisha Chief Minister told journalists.
It should be stated here here that Union Home Minister had called the meeting to discuss operations taken by the state governments of LWE affected areas and to lay a roadmap to eradicate the menace from the country. The meeting was attended by Chief Minister Naveen Patanaik, DGP BK Sharma and Chief Secretary Asit Tripathi.
The Union government had invited Chief Ministers of 10 states for the meeting. However, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Bannerjee, Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao and Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis skipped the meeting.
