Ford EcoSport ahead of Mahindra XUV300
The months of July and August had been tough for the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza as the sub-4 meter SUV quoted some of the worst monthly sales numbers in these two months. It also lost the top-selling spot in its segment to the newly launched Hyundai Venue, something that was unexpected. However, the Vitara Brezza has now sprung back into the game with all might as it became the best selling sub-4 meter SUV once again in the month of September. The Brezza is also the best selling SUV overall and has left behind the Hyundai Venue in September sales.
Speaking of numbers, Maruti sold a total of 10,362 units of the Vitara Brezza this September. Hyundai, on the other hand, sold only 7,942 units of the Venue in the same time period. This shows a decline in the Venue’s sales as Hyundai sold 9,342 units in August 2019 and 9,585 units in July 2019. As for Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, the manufacturer sold 7,109 units of the sub-4 meter SUV in August and 5,302 units in July. This means that the Vitara Brezza has jumped back in the game after nearly two months of slow sales.
While the reason behind this surge in Vitara Brezza sales can be attributed to several factors, some of them include the attractive schemes and new special edition models by the manufacturer. Maruti Suzuki introduced a free warranty scheme for a period of five years or 1 lakh km to its customers across the country.
The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is powered by a 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine that churns out 89 Bhp of power along with 200 Nm of torque. It comes mated to either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5 speed AMT gearbox. The engine on the Vitara Brezza powers the front wheels and the sub-4-meter SUV has a pretty good fuel economy of 24.29 km/l. Some time back, the Vitara Brezza received a Global NCAP safety rating of 4 stars in which it scored 4 stars on front adult occupant safety and scored 2 stars on rear child occupant safety. The Global NCAP also rated the body structure of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza to be stable.
In future, Maruti Suzuki will launch a petrol engine powered Vitara Brezza in India. This version will be powered by the 1.5-litre 4 cylinder naturally aspirated K-Series petrol engine that is also found on the Ertiga and Ciaz. This engine makes 104 Bhp-138 Nm and is paired with a mild-hybrid powertrain. Coming to the transmission options, a 5-speed manual and 4-speed torque converter automatic gearboxes will be offered with this engine on the Ciaz and Ertiga, and the same configuration is likely to be offered on the Maruti Brezza as well. Apart from the new petrol engine, the Brezza will also need a full facelift with a lot of additional features to take on the newly launched rivals in the segment.
