Protest condemning Hyderabad rape & murder, demand for stringent punishment

Mysuru, December 3:- Gandhada Gudi Foundation of the city staged a protest rally in the city on Tuesday, condemning the rape and murder of Hyderabad veterinarian Dr Priyanka Reddy last week. They held a protest march in major streets of the city and demanded severe punishment for the culprits which should act as a deterrent to others.

They went in a rally from Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple and handed over a request letter to the Deputy Commissioner Abhiram G Sankar.

Sudhindra Minchu, Aryan, Manohar, Rakesh, Vijendra, Megan, and others were present.

In another protest, the Mysuru wing of Karnataka Veterinary Doctors’ Association condemned the heinous act.

The protesters, who had gathered in front of the veterinary hospital on Dhanvantri Road, said that the rape and brutal murder of the doctor is barbaric and the culprits should be punished severely for what they have done. They said that more women are working as veterinarians these days and they don’t have protection when they are forced to go to thinly populated areas.

They held a protest march through Narayana Shastry Road, D Devaraja Urs Road and culminated at the DC’s office where they handed over a request letter to the deputy commissioner.

Dr Nagaraj, Dr Diwakar, Dr Shashidhar, Dr Madhukar, Dr Rajesh and others were present.(MR/KS)
