10 photos to help you explore Bollywood superstar, Alia Bhatt’s home
Alia Bhatt Mumbai apartment
Alia Bhatt, one of the top actors in Bollywood has proven her talent time and again. The young superstar bought a house in Mumbai’s Juhu area a few years back, making it her third home purchase so far. The previous two homes are also in Juhu and have been done up to suit the actor’s aesthetics. Let’s take a look inside her vibrant pad, and pick up a lesson or two from its design.
Alia Bhatt Lives With her Sister
Her current Juhu pad which she shares with her sister, Shaheen, is designed by Richa Bahl who she met at the sets of . When Bahl visited the apartment for the first time, she was quite taken aback with the termite infestation and rotting pipes; over time she came up with a plan to design the space around the needs of the two young, first-time homeowners, who could then add and subtract things as they went along.
The Home is Cosy, Relaxed and far from OTT
Alia was quite impressed by the Phantom Films office, designed by Richa Bahl and was also taken by her easy-going, relaxed demure. Although there was no real brief, she was very clear about what she didn’t want. The home is not overly modern or glamorous, but looks and feels very much like a New York loft. It helped, perhaps, that Alia’s grandfather is an architect, and her mother, a self-taught interior designer—obviously she’s inherited more than just her mother’s cheekbones.
The Home Accommodates Different Brands From All Over the World
The renovation took around a year and a half, and space’s four bedrooms were reconfigured to three with carefully selected furniture. Different brands from all over the world make home here—like the custom bench at the entrance from The Raj Company; a white sofa and cushioned bench in the living room from Roche Bobois; the chandelier and pendant lights by the Savoy House, Spain, from Cerco Lighting; the leather single-seater from Marina Home Interiors, Dubai, and the wall and floor tiles from C Tribhovandas & Co. The modular kitchen designed by Bahl has cabinets by Spar Arreda, Italy, and, custom-made wooden racks and kitchen accessories are from Crate and Barrel and Ikea.
The Apartment has a New York Loft-Type Vibe
“You know, when she’s getting ready it’s not just her. There’s the stylist, the make-up artists, the spot boys, the ironing guys… it’s like a mela in there,” says Bahl, in mild horror. And so, a lobby separates the dressing room from the large living room, to ensure the rest of the house is private, even if the actress is in the midst of fittings. The living room, with white walls, comfortable sofas, concrete-tiled floors and expansive windows that look out to Mumbai’s tropical trees, all create a New-York-loft-meets-a-Swiss-chalet feel.
The Sisters Take Their Tea-Time Seriously
The one thing the sisters insisted on in the house was a “tea bar”, because apparently, they’re both “really into tea. Just totally obsessed,” says Alia, sounding like a sprightly octogenarian.Alia Bhatt’s home is a mix of a New York loft and a Swiss chalet
