Anantapur: Complete groundnut seed distribution by May 28, officials told
Anantapur: District Collector Gandham Chandrudu has directed the officials of Agriculture department to complete the process of distribution of subsidised groundnut seed by May 28. He held a tele-conference here on Saturday with Agriculture joint director Habeeb Basha and other officials.
As per the instruction of Chief Minister Y S Jaganmhan Reddy, subsidised groundnut seed has to be supplied to all eligible farmers, he said. Out of 3.34 lakh quintals of seed allotted to the district, seed is being supplied to 3.13 lakh beneficiaries. Groundnut seed has already been supplied to 2.79 lakh farmers and for the remaining farmers distribution will be completed by May 28, the Collector said. Every day about 40,000 to 50,000 quintals of seed is being distributed. The seed is being supplied to all farmers who register with the department for subsidised seed. Those who failed to register can register their names on Sunday, he added.
