Wimbledon champion Hallep dropped from US Open, stated this reason
New York: Wimbledon champion Simona Halep will not be a part of the US Open. The star tennis player said she is prioritizing her health and will live in Europe during the corona virus epidemic. Former world number one and current number two player Halep won the title in Prague on Sunday.
Hallep wrote on Twitter, "After looking at all the aspects and the situations we are facing, I decided that I would not travel to New York to play at the US Open."
Six players in the top eight in the WTA rankings will not participate in the US Open in New York. Number one player Ash Barty and defending champion Bianca Andrescu have already pulled out of the tournament.
