Wankhede Stadium will give special gift to Dhoni, no player has received such an honor till date
Sports Desk: After Mahendra Singh Dhoni's retirement from international cricket, the Wankhede Stadium is now ready to give a special gift to the former Indian captain. According to reports, preparations are being made to give Permanent seat to Dhoni at the Wankhede Stadium and if that happens he will be the first player to get such an honor. Although the entire stand is named after a player but there is not a permanent seat.
Dhoni scored a six against Sri Lanka in 2011 to make India a world winner after 28 years. According to the news reports, Ajinkya Naik, a member of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) Apex Council, wrote a letter to the MCA saying, to give gratitude and thanks for Mahendra Singh Dhoni's immense contribution to Indian cricket, he has given a permanent seat. He wrote, we can find out where and on which seat Dhoni's shot fell. "We can paint and decorate the seat in a unique way to celebrate this historic contribution to Dhoni's Wankhede Stadium in Indian cricket history," the letter said.
It may be noted that Dhoni announced his retirement from international cricket at 7.29 pm on the 74th Independence Day. Under his leadership, India has won all three major ICC tournaments 2007 T20 World Cup, 2011 World Cup and 2013 Champions Trophy. He is the first and only captain to do so.
