Homicide detectives investigate Perth newborn’s death
West Australian homicide detectives are now investigating the death of a newborn baby found dead in a Perth home on Wednesday.
Detectives will speak to the 26-year-old mother to determine the circumstances surrounding her child’s death.
Police say the baby was just one day old when the body was discovered in a Thornlie property.
However, there were reports the newborn was premature and only managed to take a few breaths.
It was reportedly several hours before authorities were alerted.
Seven News reports friends called triple-0 just before 1pm.
The baby’s mother was taken to Fiona Stanley Hospital while a man, wearing a towel over his head, was taken into custody.
